Some Fun Flowers

I was playing around with a little stamp from Penny Black called Charmed last night and couldn't stop at one card...I made 4! These cards are a bit unlike me in that I put more than a couple colors together on one card...no challenge required...on my own...and brown with black..I felt like I was really outside my "zone" of comfort...
I stamped in stazon black added some grass with a black memento marker and colored each set of flowers with Bic Mark It permanent markers.  I cut around each flower's petal just a bit to make them a bit 3-D and dotted the center of each flower with a different color of Liquid Pearls(Simon Says Stamp has oodles of colors!!!).
I layered each flower panel on a piece of black cardstock and then on kraft that is stamped in versamark and a Hero Arts background stamp Modern Lines.
I added a different sentiment from a Paper Smooches set Sentiment Sampler...and now I have 4 quick cards...
Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

Less is More 69...a Shaped Card

I must admit...when I saw the challenge at Less is More  this week, I found it very intriguing and challenging...but had no idea what to do!!!  When you lack creativity...GOOGLE!!!  I immediately googled shaped cards, and fell in love with THIS card,,,what an amazing guitar Amy made!!!  It was posted 3 YEARS ago...but I think it is timeless!!  I pretty much cased the total idea but changed a couple things...here's my card...
I made one less string, added a sentiment(Paper Smooches) and used versamark and clear embossing powder and made the red of my guitar really glossy!!  I also used my Papertrey Ink Canvas/Linen Impression plate to give some texture to the white panel.  Here's a picture that shows the guitar's glossiness a bit more!...
I free style drew the guitar like Amy did...let me tell you, if I can draw a guitar, ANYONE can!!!  What fun!!!   Size...standard size 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"...cool, right?!! Thanks for visiting me today!!   Hugs!! Lisa

Fun With Bling

I found som flower bling at Michael's that I just had some ideas about...here's what I made with some of the gems...
I used a Papertrey Ink set Garden of Life and stamped the stem, flower and leaf with versamark and embossed with silver.  I added a Hero Arts sentiment and then some Martha Stewart gems(Yellow Flowers).... the pink center was from another set...
Super simple, but that's what I like about it:):)!!
Oh...made another very similiar card to the triangle cards a couple days ago...minus the framing, but simply using the dotted frame stamps the dies came with and a sentiment from Paper Smooches...and some score lines...
Ok...it's on to Noah's computer class:)!!...thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

Die Cut Thanks

Here's a second card for today...same layout as the one earlier, using the same wonderful Gina K Design design paper from the package called Casual Friday that all the Girl Fridays from CAS-ual Fridays were given....
Used a Sizzix die(Phrases-Thanks) and a piece of chipboard....added a twine bow around the "h"....loving that paper!!....super simple...super short...For those in the states...hope your Memorial Day was a  "memorable" one:):)!!  Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

CAS-ual Fridays 54...It's a Man Thing

Another fab week with AMAZING entries in last week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge...wow...congrats to the winners...it seems like the weeks just fly by...on to this week's challenge!  This week at CAS-ual Fridays the challenge is to make a clean and simple man card using design paper!
All of the Girl Fridays were given  beautiful design paper by our sponsor this week, Gina K Designs...the paper called...get this......Casual Friday!!!!!

This paper is wonderful...the designs are so realistic and beautifully colored, the paper is smooth and great quality...I had so much fun working with it!!! The hard part was choosing which of the many patterns I wanted to make a card with:):)!!  This week's winner will receive their own package of the Casual Fridays 6 x 6 design papers!!
GKD Patterned Paper Pack- Casual Friday
Here's the man card I made with one of the papers...
I used my Papertrey Ink die letters and Memory Box bow tie die cut to cross the "H".  The sentiment is part of a sentiment from Verve(Dad's Day)which I masked and stamped in black.  Used Bazzill white paper for panel and chipboard for letters. Hope you will join with us this week...the CAS- ual Fridays blog is filled with lots of inspiration from our design team...check out the Facebook team for daily inspiration throughout the week:)!!
I'll be posting another card later today with the some more of this wonderful paper...the lettering and layout similiar...not manly, though...hope you have a great day!!  Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

The Play Date Cafe Challenge 133

Playing around with my Clear and Simple Triangle Dies this morning and thought to combine my fun with The Play Date Cafe challenge 133 AND Father's Day!!  Here's my card and the color inspirations...

These dies are so cool...I  LOVE how there are so many sizes ...I decided to take 3 of them and use them to make cut out triangles...framing the colored triangles.  The sentiment is Hero Arts(Celebrate Everyday).  I layered the triangles on chipboard and ran the triangles through my Papertrey Ink Linen/Canvas texture plate for some added texture to the triangles BEFORE layering them on chipboard.  Adhered them to bazzill white paper.
Here's a rainbow one that I will have our Noah give his dad for Father's Day:)!!  But...this card is NOT for the challenge...just wanted to show you another way to use the dies...will have more to come in coming days...I AM CERTAIN!!!:):)...they are so much fun!!!
These were done with dotted swiss bazzill paper from Mike's!

Album Cover Inspiration for Father's Day

I just can't stay away from the old record album covers that I found on Project Thirty-Three!  They provide cool inspiration...this is my latest and then my card...
I LOVED the geometric design...thought that it would make for a great Father's Day card...only thing in my house...my daughter gets bugged that guy cards always seem to be graphic...she thinks they should have more real things in them....so I made the black lines black ties:)!!  My circle is a bit darker, but it doesn't look quite that dark IRL.
Cut the large circle with Spellbinder's circle die, the ties are Memory Box and the smaller circles are 1/2" punches from Stampin Up circle punch.  The sentiment is Hero Arts(Celebrate Everyday CL498)...thought it  all looked fun...a bit different...but fun!!
My card measures 4" x 7 ".  Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

Fun with Jolee Stickers

OK...another purchase from Michael's, today!...I purchased some Jolee's boutique dimensional stickers...thought they were just too cute!!  I think they are intended for baby things, but thought they were sweet, no matter the use...they look good enough to eat...they are called Mini baby blue Icing flowers...a purchase that I love, but was surprising...
Loved these because they were flatter than most flowers you stick on cards...and again...too cute!!  Used a sentiment from Papertrey Ink Beyond Basic Borders and stems are Rubber Soul.
Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

Fun with Adhesive Paper!

I had a gift card to Michael's that was burning a hole in my wallet...so I went meandering through Michael's the other day...kind of surprised myself at some of my purchases!!!  I made this card with an off name brand stamp...but just loved it...
The flower stamp is made by Ditto...which, when you read the back is Hampton Art...the sentiment is Papertrey Ink Friends Til the End.  I initially thought of making the flowers 3 orange and 2 yellow...funny how things go when you put a card together...then I had to go searching for the perfect sentiment.  Here's a picture of the paper...
This paper is textured...which I LOVE and comes in great colors...which I LOVE...and has adhesive backing...which I now REALLY LOVE!!  More costly than just paper and runner tape(I think)...It's great for projects that just require small amounts...but so nice not to have to tape everything!!!  Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

Fun With Glossy Accents

Just a quick couple cards that highlight the fun you can have and make your cards "SHINE"...lol!!
Both cards used My Favorite Things Flower dies...I really love these dies:)!!  I die cut with paper from Michael's and Papertrey Ink letter dies. ( I was originally going to use these flowers for the most recent Play Date Cafe challenge...but thought that yellow centers would NOT be SPLASH of yellow...so theses are LEFTOVERS...lol)   I used Glossy Accents on each flower and on the letters.  Added Doodlebug chunky brads(chopped off the brad). I tried adding a background...just liked it better plain...thought there was enough going on with the flowers.   Here's a closer look at the glossy...
Just thought it looked fun!!
The second card is actually a card I made a LONG time ago for another Play Date Cafe Challenge that I never submitted...the colors being yellow, black and gray.  Funny thing...I actually WON that challenge with a different card...lol!!! This had same flowers, different papers and only glossed the word ...not the flowers.  Drew a border around it, as well.  The yellow flower middles are chunky brads, the black middles are stick on dots.
Here shows the gloss...
Just a fun thing to try...really changes the look of die cut letters...and now I've found...flowers:)!!  Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

Father's Day!!

I made this card based on a Papyrus card that I found online...THAT one was done in black, orange and gray and was machine stitched...I just got my sewing machine back after a 7 month absence...but didn't know how to use it for the 10 months I had it before that...and although I can now thread it after tonight's trial...sewing on cards is going to take some serious practice!!
I made 1" long strips in marina blue, gray and black, all textured papers for added interest(kind of looks like fabric since finishing it:)!!) and cut those into 1" x 2" and 1" x 1" pieces.  I started in the middle and randomly placed and attached the squares and rectangles  to a scrap piece of 4 x 5 1/2 cardstock. I used a spellbinders square die and cut out a square at the top and placed 2 other die cut square pieces(for same depth) in the die cut out area of the card....with the sentiment(Stampin Up All Year Cheer II) stamped on one of them.  I took a black thick tipped pen and drew dotted lines around the blue and gray pieces...so theraputic:)!!  Attached the panel to a regular piece of cardstock...love that it's so flat!!  Great for sending!!  Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

The Play Date Cafe 132

The color challenge at The Play Date Cafe was just too cool this week!!  Here's my card and the colors...

Black, White and a splash of Mustard

Super simple...used two dies from Memory Box, bird and branch... and leaf die from My Favorite Things Flower Trio dies(for bird's wing).  Die cut the branch in black, the bird in More Mustard.  I ran the bird through my Papertrey Ink Canvas/Linen impression plate and dotted eye with black Enamel Accents.  The sentiment is Hero Arts(Good Friends).  Short post...gotta run!!  Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

CAS-ual Fridays...Punches or Dies

This week's challenge at CAS-ual Fridays is to use punches or dieson your clean and simple card...the challenge:
This week's sponsor is Lawn Fawn!
And Lawn Fawn is giving a wonderful prize of a $25 gift certificate to the winner of this week's challenge!!  Not only have they offered a wonderful prize to the winner of the challenge, but they gave all the Girl Fridays some of their products to have fun with!! Check out the CAS-ual Friday blog and Facebook to be inspired!! We Facebook Girl Fridays were given a selection of Lawn Fawn's latest papers from the Bright Side Collection with some wonderful hemp...
petite paper pack product image
Beautiful papers...full of color and flavor..so many colors and  patterns!!!  I was especially smitten with the rainbow of pretty colors in the selection, so my cards (I made a couple) will reflect those colors...I just kept seeing beautiful rainbows!!
The rainbow of chevrons  is made with Lawn Fawn papers...pretty...right?!!!  I used My Favorite Things chevron die with a W Plus 9 sun stamp and a sentiment from Papertrey Ink Up Up and Away Sentiments.  I stamped the sun in More Mustard and cut out and layered on chipboard...as I did the stripes...to give it all dimension.
This card uses the Lawn Fawn papers and Lawn Fawn teal colored hemp.  I punched the flowers and dotted with matching rhinestones.  The stems are one stamp from Rubber Soul and the sentiment is Papertrey Ink Beautiful Butterflies.  I layered on black, tied hemp around panel a couple times(knotted in back and crossing in front) and popped up on card. This is the very same layout I used with last week's card...a versatile layout:)!!
Hope you can join in the fun with us this week at CAS-ual Fridays...I'm trying to "punch up" this week's challenge...it's to "die" for...oh I'm too funny:):)!!!!  Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

Less is More 68...BABY or Child

I would like to thank Chrissie and Mandi for showCASing my yellow card from week 66's challenge...I am truly honored and humbled in the midst of so much talent...you ladies have made my week...congratulations to all the other showCASees...Less is More rocks!!!  Time and creativity have truly escaped me the last week...but when I saw the challenge this morning at Less is More with the theme of BABY or CHILD...I had an idea!  I thought of the Papertrey Ink animal dies and thought I would make a card with the giraffe...only thing is THEY ARE ALL ATTACHED!!  I don't know exactly why that seems to be the trend in dies(probably cost), but I am not a fan of all the images in a set of dies being attached to one another....well...here's what I made, then I'll show you what I did:)!!

I made a baby boy and girl card using papertrey ink dotted and graphed paper the sentiment from a Papertrey baby set Hanging Out.   I was able to use my big all purpose shears on this die  and cut it apart from the others(sometimes the dies are too close together, but this one worked:)!!)  I will warn you if you attempt this...it is NOT easy...but cut little by little, being patient and not worrying about bending the metal slightly(it bends back...just have to be careful)  it's not too bad and doesn't take too long.
Now that I have the giraffe cut off...the others will be pretty easy to get apart!!
Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

Paper Pieced Ark of Animals

I decided to use the Noah's Ark stamp from Jane's Doodles and make the ark full of animals entirely paper pieced!!
OK...OK...I know....a bit crazy...but what fun and seeing as I am really NOT  a colorer...this was making the animals come to life with the use of scissor instead of a marker!  I stamped SECTIONS in the different colors...the roof twice with Cherrry Cobbler, the elephant twice with dark gray, the lion...light and dark yellow and used the brown from the monkey for the lion's nose...the giraffe the same colors as the lion and monkey...the ark was soft suede...not the same brown as the monkey...basically dark and light of gray, brown, yellow and blue with one red. I didn't have a die or punch for the waves, so used  the same blues as the bird, with the Papertrey Ink large scallop die using the remainder of the de-scalloped side of the paper when it is die cut(reverse, negative...not sure what you call it:)!!) The sentiment is the one that came with the stamp....fun...fun...fun!!!  Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

CAS-ual Fridays...Birds

Happy Monday!!  Wow...it was an amazing turnout and party at CAS-ual Fridays' first birthday  last week...thanks to all of you who joined in the fun and congratulations to all the winners!!  At CAS-ual Fridays this week, the challenge is to make a clean and simple card with birds...the challenge...
This week's sponsor is Annabelle Stamps... An Australian company with wonderful stamps sets....check them out!!!
The winner of this week's challenge will receive a $20  gift voucher!!....how cool and what fun is that??!!

This is the card I made for this week's challenge......
I made my card using a simple but becoming a favorite of mine layout that I will be using again in the coming weeks!  It is super simple, but I think it is a panel with a lot of interest and LOTS of possibilities...very versatile:)!!  I stamped the Memory Box Thicket Birds with stazon black, clear embossed and dotted the dots on the branches with Peacock Liquid Pearls.
On the bottom of the panel, I stamped the sentiment(Hero Arts Good Friends), clear embossed and layered whole panel on black.  Used Hawaiin Shores ribbon by Papertrey Ink (made my bow with my  Bow Easy) and layered on Stampin Up Bermuda Bay card...very similiar colors.   I used one of my Annabelle Stamp sets...Backgrounds By Design 5 and stamped a background with Versamark on the card before attaching the main panel.
Hope you come join the challenge this week...Don't forget to check out the CAS-ual Fridays Facebook page for daily inspiration(I'm there, too:)!!)...you have until Thursday at noon to enter the challenge....it will be "tweet"...lol...just couldn't resist!!  Thanks for visiting me today...hope your day is wonderful!!!  Hugs!!!  Lisa

Happy Mother's Day!!

Happy Mother's Day to all...hope you are having a wonderful day, whatever you are doing with this wonderful day:)!!  Just wanted to post a card really quick...in between my Carraba's meal and going to my favorite soft serve ice cream stand:):):)!!!...made this card for Clean and Simple Stamping  sketch challenge 189...although I didn't make a border around it...
Used a couple dies from Memory Box(Woodland Branch and Cherry Blossom), Papertrey Ink Woodgrain Impression plate and a sentiment from Hero Arts.  Papers are Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose and Michael's kraft, Bazzill white, too.  I tried and tried a number of things in the center of the blossom(liquid pearls, stick on pearls, rhinestones...lots of things) but nothing looked right.  I opted for some baker's twine that I threaded and put through the entire flower a couple times leaving both sets of pass throughs doubled and cut and frayed.  Liked it much better:)!!  Ok...gotta go...it's been a wonderful day hanging with my children!!
Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

Play Date Cafe Challenge 131

I have to say...when I saw the colors for this week's Play Date Cafe Challenge ...I wasn't sure what to do with them...two shades of green, orange and black...but this came from that with very little thought(with the help of My Favorite Things Star Dies..just came in the mail two days ago:)!!)...here's my card and the colors:

Die cut the stars, and layered.  Used Grid Pattern background stamp from Hero Arts and sentiment from Paper Smooches.  I used the Stampin Up star punch on the black panel and then cut around each star a tiny bit on every side to be able to place the die cuts into the cut out with a little spare room.
Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa
